Southern United Hockey Club

Australian Futures Selection

Southern United players Olivia Downes, Nathan Ephraums, Amy Lawton, Josh Mulder and Brad Marais have been selected in the Australian Futures group for 2017. Congratulations.

They have been recognised as being amongst the top players in Australia in the U18 age group and have potential to go on and play for the Kookaburras and Hockeyroos in the future.  Only seven players from Victoria were selected in the squad this year, and to have four of them wearing the Southern colours is a huge achievement.

This is the third year Southern United has had players selected in this elite squad and is a testament to the hard work of the players, and support of parents, as well as the support from the coaches of the club.

Amy’s selection in Aus Futures has been announced while Amy is travelling with the Under 17 School Sport Australia team in Europe. Selection of these players together with four players selected in the Under 21 Victorian team, the most Southern players selected ever, and the first time a Southern United women has been selected gives us confidence that the club has a bright future.
