Hockey Victoria has announced the players selected to participate in the Hockey Victoria academy for 2016/2017. Some of these players gained automatic entry based on their selection in a state team in 2016, others through the two day draft camps in September (u15/u13) and July (u18). Congratulations to the 37 players from Southern United selected. With another seven selected in Emerging Vipers and Vikings, together with three of these players selecting in the Australian Futures, the strength and depth of the juniors coming through the ranks is apparent. Of those forty four players, eight are goal keepers.

New players to academy / state terms are: Emma, Sammie, Anna, Molly, Taylor, Puck, Hope, Lulu and Edward. A special congratulations.

The year has also seen thirty three Southern United under age players in the Big V shirt in outdoor and indoor competitions, with Amy Lawton representing Australia in the Under 16 tour in South Africa and Nathan Epraums playing in National Futures team early in the year.
