INDOOR HOCKEY
Players have lots of different options for indoor: Hockey Victoria Competition, Hockey Equipe Competition and Club Championships.
Indoor hockey is an exciting and fun game to watch and play. The team consists of six players on the court – five field players and one goalie, with the speed of the game, there is generally a lot of substitutions that take place, we generally like to have 9 or 10 players in the team.

All competition costs are borne by players. Costs are spread around the players. All players must be registered with Hockey Victoria. If you are interested in indoor under 18 or younger, please fill in form here Any questions to suhc.junior.indoor@gmail.com
This does not guarantee a place in the team or competition. If you know you are unavailable up front for some games can you please let us know so we can plan team numbers around this.
Once teams have been decided players will register and pay their registration fee online. If teams need to forfeit a match, the forfeit cost will be spread across the team members in an additional fee. In addition to the registration fee, for hockey Victoria competitions players will share the additional cost of umpire fees. This generally works out to $20/player. The estimates below include the HV umpiring fees estimate.
Club Championships run by Hockey Victoria
Hockey Victoria will be running club championships for boys and girls (separately). Under 18 Club championships will play with 5 maximum on the court (including goalie) while Open, Under 15 and 13 will play with FIH rules of 6.
These Indoor Club Championships will also be used as part of the State Team Selection Process.

Hockey Victoria Shield Competitions
Hockey Victoria Shield competitions will take place at MSAC this year, in the past there was two shield competitions, one at Dandenong and one at Vic Uni. Only eight teams can compete in the shield competition. There are 8 rounds, including finals in the shield competition.

Hockey Equipe Competition @ Skateworld Mordiallic
Hockey Equipe are running in indoor competition at Skateworld Mordialloc. This competition is a longer competition and starts week of 10th Oct, closes over school summer holidays and finishes end February. This competition is a great competition for “non shield” players. A great environment for spectators and players. This competition ran for the first time last year, and was enjoyed by all. The added bonus of this competition for all is the environment, spectator space, canteen open and umpires provided.
We encourage our pennant/district players to be part of this indoor competition for all of these reasons.
The Hockey Equipe competition will start with 3 weeks of training (at game time) followed by 12 rounds of matches and finals. All teams play in classification finals.

2017-8 High Performance – State Indoor Team Selection
The 2017-18 State Team selection will take place in October-November in a variety of formats outlined for each age group below. We strongly recommend that all athletes in all junior age groups participate and support the Club Championships. Whilst it is not mandatory at Under 18, Under 15 and Under 13 levels, it will give the selection team the most information about each athlete.
Open Men and Women – There will be NO trial process, all athletes will be selected from the Open Club Championships, therefore participation in the Club championships is a requirement of selection.
Under 21 Men and Women – There will be NO trial process, all athletes will be selected from the Open Club Championships, therefore participation in the Club championships is a requirement of selection.
Under 18 Men and Women – It is highly recommended that all athletes wanting to nominate for the Under 18 state teams participate in the Under 18 Club Championships to be seen by selection panels, there will be a one-off trial to finalise the squad for this age group.
Under 15 Boys and Girls – It is highly recommended that all athletes wanting to nominate for the Under 15 state teams participate in the Under 15 Club Championships to be seen by selection panels, there will be a one-off trial to finalise the squad for this age group.
Under 13 Boys and Girls – It is highly recommended that all athletes wanting to nominate for the Under 13 state teams participate in the Under 13 Club Championships to be seen by selection panels, there will be a one-off trial to finalise the squad for this age group.
