Women’s Big Match Day Round 12

Our second split round for the season, with the women teams playing Saturday and men Sunday.

The fixture gods were not kind to us on Saturday, with only the premier league teams and Metro B playing. That said a great crowd came to watch the women have centre stage, and they did not disappoint.

The reserves women started the day on fire with a 5-1 win over Brumbies with Ash Jones scoring a very impressive hat trick.

The premier league women finished their game with a 3-0 win. This keeps the ladies premier league the impressive fourth on the ladder, 3 points behind Mentone with one less game played.

The metro B women continued the winning flavour of the day with a massive 10-0 win over Bayside with the young players once again showing their stuff. Lulu Stansby scoring four and Bec McNess scoring one, both play in our under 12 girls shield team.

Men’s Big Match Day Round 12

The fixtures worked well for the men’s teams, with pennant A and C supporting the premier league teams on Sunday.

Pennant C started the day with a second on the ladder (Southern) versus third (Camberwell) match. The match in round 3 had Southern take the points, and a great game saw the same result 4-2 to Southern, with Andre Fernandez making it clear why he is part of the team scoring two goals, a classic Packo penalty corner goal, and one to Jack Marquardt. Pennant C keep their second spot on the ladder, now 3 points clear of Melbourne Uni.

Men’s premier league was always going to be a big game. Southern fourth on the ladder, with the same points as Powerhouse fifth, only goal difference separating them. A great result for the Southern men with two impressive field goals, giving them a 2-0 win. The first with Carlin and Pim combining beautifully to give Pim his second goal in four premier league games this year.

Men’s premier league reserves game was a hard slog with some great goal keeping by Powerhouse keeper Nick, but our boys got there in the end with a 3-0 win.

The last game of the day, Pennant A, was not the game wanted to finish the day, with nine players playing their second game for the day, the precision, strength and speed of Camberwell was just too much.

Men & Women Round 12

Women’s pennant B had their trip to the hockey centre for their game against Camberwell. Thanks to Bill from Camberwell for stepping in and umpiring for us. It was really appreciated. The game was very close with the ladies taking the points 1-0 with Jo Campbell scoring the goal, with the pennant B team keeping their third spot on the ladder. Women’s pennant E with 10 players did a great job to beat fifth on the ladder Waverley at Waverley. Women’s Metro A had a nice relaxing weekend with their bye, plenty of time to support the women at Farm Rd on Saturday.

Great news for men’s pennant D who had a much needed win over Monash on Sunday 6-2 with Shane Peachey scoring two. Pennant E tripped to Powerhouse to play on their new pitch, for the rematch of the Pennant F grand final. The result was similar with Powerhouse just too strong.

Men’s metro A with nine players at Mentone finished 7-2 up over Mentone, now that is impressive. While Men’s metro B called in junior reinforcements with Cameron Connell playing his first seniors game, and Lachie and Anthony back for the day for a nil all draw against Frankston.
