Some great wins on Friday night for our juniors.
Our under 14 mixed pennant team played undefeated Mornington, handing Mornington there first defeat of the season, 3-1. What a win. Under 16 south red also had a win over Mornington 3-2 at home at Farm Rd. Under 16 south black could not quite there against Bayside 1 finishing 3-1 down with Ben Thompson scoring their goal. The two 16 south teams remain 5th and 6th on the ladder, great going, it is tough when there is two south teams for the club.
Over at Footscray the two mixed shield teams on Friday night also walked away with wins. The 14 mixed shield had their best win of the season, heir first big goal fest of the season, with a hat trick to Evie Stansby and two to Max Hoult. This moves 14s to third on the ladder. The 16 mixed shield got there in the end with a 2-0 win.
The 14 girls had a close game 2-0 down to Brunswick. After the game, Puck did the quick run to the hockey centre to join the 16 girls. Well worth while it was too, with the 16 girls taking the points over WestVic 4-0 with two goals to Molly and one apiece to Erin and Emilia.
Our under 10 quarter field started up again on Saturday. Welcome to our new players. There are another seven rounds to go, we have plenty more space if others would like to join. Just contact Tina at junior.secretary@suhc.com.au
Under 12 boys shield despite MCC’s many shots on goal finished with a 1-1 draw to keep their sixth on the ladder ahead of MCC, great work guys. Under 12 pennant had a rough start to the day with some game location confusion, and finished 6-0 down to Mentone yellow. Tough day for you boys. The considerable bulk of the boys in the two under 12 full field teams are bottom age, and five are actually under 10, the boys continue to do tough it out.
Under 12 girls shield continue on top of the ladder with a 4-0 win over TEM, two goals to Georgia Ghuliani.
In the under 10 girls, both Waverley and Southern started the game short – 6 players each. The game was played with much sportsmanship, when one of our players was injured, Waverley then also played with five players. Wonderful to see in an under 10 comp. Our girls finished 7-4 down with Klara scoring a hat trick and one to Abigail Dickson. The under 10 boys also started the term 3 competition with a win, 6-3 over Mentone.
The under 12 girls “district” travelled to Brunswick for their game, proving too strong for Brunwick
The under 12 boys district had the joy of a Sunday game against Maccabi. The growth in this team over the season has been incredible, with the boys winning 6-1. |
