Southern United Hockey Club

Saturday wrap Big Match Day in support of Peter Mac 12th May 2012

Men’s State League

Not a good day for MSL this weekend coming up against an Essendon side that played good quality MSL1 hockey. Our boys tried hard but were outclassed by the Bombers who came back from a 0-1 half time deficit to take the 3 points 2-4 in a dominant display. Without doubt our boys are now acutely aware that the competition standard has now been set!!

Women’s State League

There was some symmetry in the WSL performance beyond the scoreline. Our girls were outclassed by a more desperate PHStK outfit who showed greater pace and hockey smarts on the day and went on to win 2-4. A disappointing result for sure but also an early wake up call to the team that will remind everyone of what is required for success in WSL.

Mens Pennant A

Continued their good performances from recent weeks with a very satisfying 4-1 win over MCC. This young team is continuing to develop under the watchful eye of coach Shannon Davey and have now popped into the 4 for the first time this season.

Womens Pennant B

It might be said that WPB missed an opportunity this week to consolidate a mid table position by missing full points against MCC with a 2-2 draw after leading the lady Demons 2-0 at half time. No doubt the girls will learn from the experience and capitalize on their dominance in future games.
