Match Report – Womens Pennant B vs Camberwell – Round 8

Have you ever played a game when you dominate the middle of the field, you have numerous attacks into the circle, the shots at goal fly but you can’t put it into the back of the net? Well this was one of those games. To make matters worse, the opposition had one penalty corner in the second half that hit Ali’s glove, diverted up and into the goal.

Yes we went down 0-1 to the top team. But there was plenty of pleasing efforts that came out of the game. Katelyn W and Ellie C combined on the right side to create some great opportunities and the consistently turned over the defence.

Vanessa G once again showed her class in controlling the centre of the field and played a really attacking centre half. Particularly after coming back from a stick in the face. Vanessa is off to Africa for a month and we will definitely miss her on the field.

I did notice that there was plenty talking (or should I say shouting) on the field and girls are really starting to hit their straps. There is still a lot of work to do in the circle and our execution of our penalty corners let us down, but with the competition remaining tight we are still very much in charge of our own destiny.
