Southern United Hockey Club

Match Report – Mens State League 2 – Round 10

Southern hosted the bottom of the table Monash University team at Farm Road on Saturday. In a dour contest with few highlights they eventually ran out winners five goals to nil. While the students defended stoutly, some basic ball handling issues and a below par PC conversion rate meant Southern were not able to convert their glut of possession into scoring outcomes.

In the tight 2012 competition this game will go down as a missed opportunity to increase the all-important goal difference.

This coming weekend will see the team cross the Yarra to take on the fifth placed Brunswick team. A loss for Brunswick would see them slip out of contention for the final four and this should be sufficient motivation for an improved performance from the Southern boys.
