Match Report – Womens Pennant B – Round 13

Pennant B scored the late game on Saturday (5:30) and it took the girls a little while to get into the match.  Once we got going we dominated the play in the middle of the field but the attacks continually broke down with some poor passing and not enough aggression in the circle.

TEM’s scored the first goal with one of their rare attacks into the circle in the first half and it seemed as if it was going to be one of those days where you have all the play but just cant put it in the back of the net.

With the team shuffled around in the second half we again continued to attack. Finally we were rewarded when Vanessa M outpaced the opposition full back, and crossed the ball to Taryn C who put an easy ball into the back of the net.  There was some good defence from Pauline GG, Alyson Mc and Ali W who kept the opposition shots on goal to a minimum.  With about 1:30 to go in the game, Vanessa M attacked again and combined with Vanessa G put Southern ahead. This obviously put a fire under the forwards as we were just about to slot another goal in the net, except we were beaten by the final whistle.

This weekends win lifts us from 7th to 4th on the ladder in what is turning out to be a very tight competition.
