Hockey Victoria has recently advised that due to the re-introduction of stage 3 restrictions in Metropolitan Melbourne it is no longer possible to deliver the 2020 Winter Season.
The SUHC Committee of Management would like to thank all of our members, volunteers and Hockey Victoria for putting in an enormous amount of effort over the last few months in getting SUHC ready to return to the pitch.
We now turn our focus towards planning for what we can provide our SUHC community once restrictions ease and look ahead to delivering a bigger and better 2021 Winter Competition.
SUHC has a number of fixed costs each year that it is liable to pay regardless of whether a hockey season is delivered. Two components of SUHC registration fees which contribute to the annual fixed costs of SUHC are the Membership Fee ($35 per person) and the Ground Replacement Levy ($40 per person).
Further, SUHC has already incurred many expenses associated with delivering the extended pre-season and the anticipated 2020 Winter Competition, such as partial payments of team entry fees, which would typically be covered by player registration fees.
The combination of the cancelled 2020 Winter Competition and incurred club expenses means that SUHC is currently forecasting a significant financial loss for the 2020 calendar year.
Given the unique set circumstances this year has presented, the club would be most appreciative of any donation members are able to contribute in order to mitigate the projected financial loss for our club. Donations can be made at our donation page here
We look forward to getting together once it is safe to do so! Stay safe, healthy and connected to the SUHC community!
