The Under 11PSE team met Waverley on their home ground on Saturday and went into the game without our normal goal keeper who was ill, so Zac stepped in and did a great job. For a large part of the first half Waverley had the ball in their attacking half but Luka and Zoe did a great job keeping them from scoring too often, however they did manage to get a couple past our defence. We had limited chances in the first half and despite some good efforts from Owen & Josh, we couldn’t quite get our passing game together and went into half time 2 nil down.
The second half was a different story with Southern having most of the attack, but again we couldn’t quite get the finishing done. Anne was doing some good work along with Max, Liam & Angus and with Zoe up forward created a number of opportunities that didn’t get the reward for effort. With a few minutes to go Zoe copped an errant ball on the point of the shoulder and had to come off the ground so our attack lost a bit of zing. We got a short corner just before the final whistle and Mees scored a goal meaning we finished down 2/1. Well done to the team on having a great attitude on the ground and for trying for the whole game & next time the good work might turn into a winning result.
