On the last Big Match Day in support of Peter Mac at Farm Road for 2012, some big results both on and off the field.
MPA
MPA was thrashed by 8th place Doncaster 1-7 in a match they will want to forget but in the true traditions of sporting perversity, they remain 3rd on the ladder thanks to Altona being beaten again, this time by Greensborough.
MSL
MSL was then challenged by an ebullient Yarra who competed hard and pressured our boys for much of the first half. SUHC went into the break as 2-1 leaders and then came out in the second half fully revitalised to take out the match 8-2. This was a good goal difference result for 2nd placed SUHC who now travel to Albury as the battle for that coveted second place on the ladder continues.
WSL
WSL dispatched La Trobe University 5-0 to maintain in touch with 2nd placed Powerhouse/St Kilda. SUHC WSL remains 3rd placed, one point above Albury/Wodonga who they meet this coming round. A loss to either team this weekend will see them drop out of the four unless the lady Gunners (La Trobe) can do the business over Yarra.
WPB
WPB rounded off the day with a hard fought encounter with top placed Greensborough and were unlucky to go down 2-3. WPB is now 6th, 4 points adrift of the four.
Off the field
The annual $1000 day was afoot throughout the afternoon with super sales gal Nicolette Pratt cajoling well over $500 worth of extra ticket sales from the home crowd and visiting punters before the big draw began. Well done and many thanks Nicolette!! Also many thanks to Helen Eddington and McKenzie’s Foods and Rob Marais and Ozito for their generous donations of the mid-draw prizes. The $1000 Day raised over $2,700 for your club and the lucky winners on the day were Adrian Rigg and Liam Eddington who agreed to share the prize in the end. Well done gents, both of you should be good for a shout at the Bogan Bingo night on round 18, 25th August 2012 at Farm Road.
