Junior State Championships

Under 13, Under 15 & Under 17

Junior State Championships, known as JSC, are held every year during the July school holidays. The state is divided into 10 zone, six metropolitan and four regional, and each zone is represented  in the girls and boys competition for the age groups.

Southern United plays are part of the Southern Metro Sharks area.

Players wishing to play in JSC are required to nominate to trial, and selection of the respective teams takes place at the trials.  Nominations are normally open in March/April on the Hockey Victoria website.

Hockey Victoria Zone Challenge

The zone challenge which has been run in previous years is not to be run from 2016.

Hockey Victoria State Teams U13 to U21

Australian championships are held each year for Under 13, Under 15, Under 18 and Under 21. The nomination and trial process for these state teams is recorded at the Hockey Victoria website. Generally for under 13, under 15 and Under 18 two state teams per gender are selected to compete in the Australian championships for the larger states – Victoria, NSW, WA and Queensland.  Often a development under 14 state team is also selected to compete in an invitational event.

School Sport Victoria

School Sports Australia runs an School Sports Australian championships for Under 12 and Under 16 hockey.  This is wholly and solely run by SSV. Nominations to trial normally are requested at the start of term 1.  Information is held at SSV.

Indoor Hockey

Australian Hockey Championships for Under 13, Under 15, Under 18 and Under 21 are held each year. Nominations to trial are normally requested in August/September each year. Details are at Hockey Victoria website.
