The Southern players taking part in the School Sports Australia Championships over the past weeks have had a great campaign.
Amy Lawton has been selected in the Under 16 Australian team for the second year. Brad Marais has been selected as a shadow in the boys team. Congratulations to both, being recognized as the top under 16 players in Australia is a huge achievement. Last year Amy was selected as a shadow player, and had the excitement of travelling and playing with the team to South Africa when some other players could not travel. The teams will travel to Germany next year.
Alistair Hart and Brad Marais were part of the winning Under 16 Boys team. The team defeating WA in the final, with success in the penalty shoot out after a draw at end of time.
The under 16 girls with Amy Lawton and Olivia Carruthers finished fourth after a draw in the bronze medal match where WA higher on the ladder was declared the bronze medal winners.
The Under 12 girls with Evie Stansby, Josie Lawton and Laura Loycke finished third in their championships in Cairns. While the boys with Jacques Carstens and Lachie Paice played a great tournament, without the success they hoped for.
