The inaugural Under 18 Hockey Victoria Club Championships were held at Monash University Clayton over the weekend.
Southern United entered a boys team coached by Andrew & Aidan McLoughney. The team played really well with some very close games finishing second in their pool and moved in to the Pool C (top 4) cross over matches with the Southern boys finishing fourth. Thanks Andrew and Aidan for your hard work, and to Martin as the medical staff.
Southern girls were not able to field a team so our girls played in two scratch teams with Amy, Sammie, Emily and Emma in a team entered under the Waverley banner, and Alice in the Mentone team. Both team finished in the top 3, moving to the top pool for the second day, and the “Waverley” team playing in the gold medal match, with Footscray winning the gold.
Jack Morrison also helped TEM out as goalie for the weeekend.
Southern’s Jill Arnold & Trevor Jones also took on Technical Officer roles for the weekend.
Congratulations to all the players, thanks to the coaches, and officials.
