On behalf of the SUHC Women’s Committee I would like to announce the appointment of Matt L’Huillier as our Women’s Premier League coach for 2017.
Matt joined Southern as a key defender for the MPL team and he brought with him both knowledge and experience with his extensive playing and coaching background. Matt played for New Zealand underage teams from U14-U21, New Zealand Men’s team from 2010-2014, he was a professional hockey player in Holland and one of the top 3 goal scorers in Holland.
Coaching wise Matt has been a player coach of the Wellington Indians team, coached the Wellington Juniors, been Wellington’s high performance coach, coached the U18 men’s and women’s teams in Holland, is owner and coach of Vision Hockey, holds a NZ level 2 coaching accreditation and is a specialist drag flicking coach.
Matt strives to elicit the best out of his players by putting athletes in an environment where they feel like they can express their abilities, their personality, all that they bring and in an environment that will give them the sense that if they do, they’ll have their best opportunity to take it as far as they can.
2017 is looking like a very exciting season with Matt on board!
