THE Southern United Premier league teams met super club Camberwell at Farm Rd on the weekend — and more than held their own.

Camberwell has been a power of Victorian hockey for years, but United was not willing to let the visitors have the run of the pitch.

The Southern women’s team had a bad start to the game with Sarah Stewart of Camberwell getting the ball in the net early. With the strength of the young players in the team, Charley Malligan replied with a goal 10 minutes later. But it was Camerbwell leading 2-1 at half time.
