Premier League Round 13

The day started at Essendon with Essendon’s top of the table women’s reserves. Our reserves have also had a great season, but Essendon proved too much, taking the match 4-1. Our women’s firsts, one point (and one less game) ahead of Essendon firsts, showed their style taking the points 5-3, with goals to the youngsters: two goals Emily, and one to Amy, Emilia and Charley.

The men’s premier league team keep their third position on the ladder with a 4-2 win over Essendon with Matt scoring a hat trick of penalty corner goals. The reserves fought out a close game to finish 2-2, with the two goals to Michael Pearce.

The midweek round 20 games against Waverley that were missed due to lighting challenges at Waverley have now been rescheduled with the men playing at Maribyrnong on Tuesday night 24th. A key round for the men, good luck. The women play the following week, Tuesday 31st, also at Maribyrnong.

Men & Women’s Pennant Round 13

The top pennant teams all played Hawthorn. The men’s pennant A game at the hockey centre can be best described as close. Hawthorn beat Southern 5-2 in the previous match, and with four pennant C doubling up, three in the forward line, to finish with 1-0 was a good but frustrating result, sadly 3 PCs after the whistle were not enough to draw the game.

Men’s pennant C and women’s pennant C both played on Sunday at Hawthorn at 12.30, on H1 and H2. The men’s pennant C game, with the two sets of brothers combining well, finished with a score line of 11-5. The score misrepresents the first half of the game which was surprisingly close, 5-4 at half time. A hat trick to Jesse Workman, and two to Liam and Jelly, under 16s Max and Andre also scored. The second half of the game allowed the Southern players to take control.

The Hawthorn women’s pennant B team are a clear top of the ladder and proved too strong for Southern, with the ladies going down 3-0. The result does allow them to keep their third position on the ladder.

On Saturday at Farm Rd Men’s pennant D had a second win on the trot, a great result for the team 3-1 over Doncaster with the goals spread across the ages with James Erbacher, Jarrad Camille and Justin Branson scoring one apiece. Some nice momentum for the team with a crucial game against MCC next week. While men’s pennant E finished just down 5-4 against Waverley. The women’s pennant E team had a nice 4-0 win over Mornington, they remain second on the ladder, boosting their goal difference nicely.

Men & Women’s Metro – Round 13

Doncaster men’s metro A have won every game, with a massive 61 goal difference. Saturday saw their run come to an end when th the Southern men’s metro A team drew with them 2-2. What a result, with Josh Madden and Damon Kane scoring.

Women’s metro A camped over the 50 yard line for most of the game ended up winning 4-0 against Knox at Knox. Goals shared around – Ruby Jansz, Ali Thomas, Karina Stavropolous & Jane O’Neill.

Women’s metro B continued to star with a 2-0 win over Mornington with the two under 12 girls – Bec McNess and Lulu Stansby scoring the goals.

Men’s metro B, second on the ladder, played top of the ladder St Bede’s for a 3-3 draw, great to see juniors Lachie, Cameron, Jonathan and Alex continuing in the team.

Junior’s Round 10

Some great wins on Friday night for our juniors.

Our under 14 mixed pennant team played undefeated Mornington, handing Mornington there first defeat of the season, 3-1. What a win. Under 16 south red also had a win over Mornington 3-2 at home at Farm Rd. Under 16 south black could not quite there against Bayside 1 finishing 3-1 down with Ben Thompson scoring their goal. The two 16 south teams remain 5th and 6th on the ladder, great going, it is tough when there is two south teams for the club.

Over at Footscray the two mixed shield teams on Friday night also walked away with wins. The 14 mixed shield had their best win of the season, heir first big goal fest of the season, with a hat trick to Evie Stansby and two to Max Hoult. This moves 14s to third on the ladder. The 16 mixed shield got there in the end with a 2-0 win.

The 14 girls had a close game 2-0 down to Brunswick. After the game, Puck did the quick run to the hockey centre to join the 16 girls. Well worth while it was too, with the 16 girls taking the points over WestVic 4-0 with two goals to Molly and one apiece to Erin and Emilia.

Our under 10 quarter field started up again on Saturday. Welcome to our new players. There are another seven rounds to go, we have plenty more space if others would like to join. Just contact Tina at junior.secretary@suhc.com.au

Under 12 boys shield despite MCC’s many shots on goal finished with a 1-1 draw to keep their sixth on the ladder ahead of MCC, great work guys. Under 12 pennant had a rough start to the day with some game location confusion, and finished 6-0 down to Mentone yellow. Tough day for you boys. The considerable bulk of the boys in the two under 12 full field teams are bottom age, and five are actually under 10, the boys continue to do tough it out.

Under 12 girls shield continue on top of the ladder with a 4-0 win over TEM, two goals to Georgia Ghuliani.

In the under 10 girls, both Waverley and Southern started the game short – 6 players each. The game was played with much sportsmanship, when one of our players was injured, Waverley then also played with five players. Wonderful to see in an under 10 comp. Our girls finished 7-4 down with Klara scoring a hat trick and one to Abigail Dickson. The under 10 boys also started the term 3 competition with a win, 6-3 over Mentone.

The under 12 girls “district” travelled to Brunswick for their game, proving too strong for Brunwick

The under 12 boys district had the joy of a Sunday game against Maccabi. The growth in this team over the season has been incredible, with the boys winning 6-1.
