The 2018 Australian Under 18 championships was the platform for the selection of the Hockey 5s team for the Youth Olympics Qualifier. Southern United players Amy Lawton and Brad Marais were selected in the Australian teams.

The selection of players for the Australian Futures squad also took place with Amy Lawton, Brad Marais, Craig Marais and Olivia Downes selected.

The Under 18 championships were successful for the Victorian Men’s team with Southern players Alistair Hart, Brad Marais, Craig Marais, Pim Okhuizen and Trent Symss taking home the gold.

The Victorian womens team with Southern Olivia Carruthers, Olivia Downes, Emily Hamilton Smith and Amy Lawton finished Fourth.
