THE 2018 hockey season got into full swing with the 14 Southern United teams hitting the pitch on the weekend in true winter conditions.

The Premier League teams had a tough task against Camberwell, but the Southern players were up to it.

The women’s firsts finished with a thumping win over Camberwell, beating the Wellers at Camberwell for the first time. The score was 3-0 at half time with two goals to Amy Lawton and the other to 14-year-old Emilia Downes, her maiden Premier League strike.

With continued pressure and goals to Tamsin Nelson and Nicole Graham the score pushed out to 5-0.

The Camberwell men’s Premier team has been untouchable in the past two years, winning the grand final.   See more
