The Southern United Hockey Club AGM was held today with the election of our office bearers for 2024.

Our office bearers for 2024 are:

• President – Ross Walker
• Vice President – Helen Ward
• Treasurer – Marlene Lothian
• Secretary – Anna Jennings

Our Section heads for 2024 are:

• Juniors – Ben Grant
• Masters – Suzie Styles
• Women – Deb Ghuliani
• Men – Steven Duffield.

We thank Caitlin Campbell for her work as president of Southern over the past 6 years. Caitlin guided us through the challenging time of 2020/2021 and COVID, led us through the arrival of our new and exciting scoreboard, and worked tirelessly with the council regarding a 2nd pitch and pitch renewal. Thanks Caitlin.

We welcome Ross as our new club president. Ross history with the club goes back to when he was a young child. Having  played in our juniors and then men’s firsts, coached men, women and junior teams and has been part of the club – Moorabbin and then Southern always. Ross is son of life member Ken Walker, and father of premier league player Carlin.

Looking back at some old Moorabbin photos. Ross was the men’s first best and fairest in 88, 89 and 90. Ross was assistant coach of the Under 17 A team in 1996 with Cam Hunter as coach, and with many names still associated with the club in the team – Paul Layzell, Tim Bowman, Danny Benjamin, Mitch Smith.
