Southern’s Australian players – Amy, Nathan and Craig, started honing their skills at Southern’s elite academy SUHA – Southern United Hockey Academy.

SUHA together with the Southern United Development Program (SUDP) are currently taking registrations.

2023 Southern United Hockey Academy (SUHA) is for players who have satisfied any of the following criteria in 2022: played Shield level, participated in JSC, participated in HV Academy (U13-U15-U18), played HV state team (including train-ons), played SSV, or was an award winner at the junior presentation night in 2022.   While SUDP is open to all players.

Southern United Development Program

Our Southern United Development Program (SUDP) was a huge success last year and in 2023 we will run the SUDP program again for all juniors who have not played in a shield team in 2022 or have not participated yet in JSC (Junior State Championships), rep hockey for Victoria or School Sport Victoria in previous seasons.

SUDP is a holistic 5 week pre-season program with a carnival final on Sunday 5 March 2023 that really helps every participant develop their own individual hockey skills. It is open to ALL junior players of all abilities, with players grouped to ensure they are challenged within peer groups of similar age and ability. We would like to invite YOU to participate in SUDP in 2023. The players will have 5 Sunday morning sessions in total. This program represents an incredible opportunity to develop your hockey further with an amazing group of coaches and a program designed for all levels of ability by our Men’s Premier League coach Jesse Workman and run by Pim Okhuizen, Men’s Premier League Player.

Time: Sunday morning 9.00am – 10.30am

Southern United Hockey Academy

SUHA is a holistic 9-week pre-season program that really helps every participant develop and move to-wards their potential.

SUHA is specifically run before the start of the season to give the participants the perfect lead in to the outdoor season. In 2023 all of our coaches are either State or national level players of coaches and Jesse will be taking on more of the hands on coaching.

Field players will have 9 Friday evening sessions throughout the program. This represents a fantastic opportunity to develop your hockey further with an impressive group of coaches and a program designed to challenge and improve all levels of ability by our Men’s Premier League coach Jesse Workman.

Dates: 5 sessions from 3 Feb to 3 March 2023, a week off for the labour day weekend of 13 March, then 4 more sessions from 17 March to 7 April 2023.

Under 16 and Under 18

Dates: 5 sessions from 3 Feb to 3 March 2023, a week off for the labour day weekend of 13 March, then 4 more sessions from 17 March to 7 April 2023. 
Time: for Under 16 and Under 18 age group (based on winter season 2022) Friday evening 7.45pm – 9.00pm
