Under 13 Indoor Club Championships Wrap

The under 13 indoor club championships are over for 2018.

The under 13 girls performed strongly with one loss for the weekend, sadly with the challenges of strengths of pools, the one loss and draw in their pool placed them in to the cross over matches for 5th – 9th place. The girls continued their winning ways in the cross overs to finish fifth for the weekend. The team was coached by Emily Hamilton Smith and Olivia Carruthers with Xander Okhuizen as team manager.

The Under 13 boys also put up a good performance.  They too finished third in their pool. The boys then simply played 3rd in the other pool to determine fifth place. A draw against TEM in this match, left the boys sixth due to goal difference lower by one in their initial pool matches. The team was coached by Steve Hoult, with Manny Papadopoulos managing the bench and Allison Williams team manager.

The club championships provided quite a number of our players their first chance to play in a more formal championships style competition with Charlotte Carruthers playing indoor for the first time and scoring four goals, our new players who have moved from the Netherlands Frederiek and Anna van Voonhoven performed well with Frederiek also scoring four goals. Puck Okhuizen was the top goal scorer for our girls with 7 goals.. While Ashton Williams, goalie for the State U13 Volt team and our under 12 shield team, continued playing on field for indoor scoring 9 goals, the top scorer for the boys team was Kade Leigh with 10 goals, Kade our very popular visitor from Geelong.
