Southern United now seeks player nominations our Junior Development Program for 2026.
Designed and led by John Mowat, a highly experienced coach at national and international levels, the program focuses on developing individual technical and decision-making skills.

What’s new in 2026?
– Southern United Junior Coaches will work alongside players and John Mowat during the program and then reenforcing these skills throughout the season. The coaches will join some specific ‘train the coaches’ sessions before the player sessions.
– Goalkeeper and field player development programs will run at the same time.
– The program will is scheduled post-Christmas to avoid scheduling conflicts with indoor and representative hockey and festive season commitments.

Program Details
Five Sunday morning sessions for outfield players (22 February, 1, 15, 22 and 29 March) – we would expect players to attend at least four of these sessions.Three Sunday Morning sessions for goalkeepers alongside the outfield players (15, 22 and 29 March)
– Capacity: 72 outfield players (9 groups of eight), 9 goalkeepers

The fee is $100 for field players and $60 for goalkeepers, reflecting our commitment to accessible junior hockey development.

We will operate a ‘first nomination’ system – those who nominate first will be allocated places and, once all places are allocated later nominations will be placed on a “waiting list”.
