What a great experience for our young players, to be part of the Sharks Junior State Championships teams, with the added excitement of playing in regional Victoria. The boys competitions were held at Shepparton and the girls in Bendigo.
The teams had a great tournament with results:
- Under 13 boys finished 3rd after winning the final in a shoot out
- Under 13 girls finished 4th
- Under 15 boys finished an incredible 2nd with young Southern player Ant Papadopoulos as coach
- Under 15 girls finished 4th
- Under 18 boys finished 7th
- Under 18 girls (part of the Wildcats team) finished 8th
A huge congratulations to Maryke Boshoff who played for the Gippsland Bulls in under 15. The Gippsland Bulls won their first ever Junior State Championships – and Maryke was part of it. Great that Southern can continue to be part of Gippsland Bulls, it is not that long ago that Amy Lawton was in the Gippsland Bulls JSC team.
Charlie Williams umpired at JSC being allocated the Under 15 bronze medal match – his brother was playing in the gold medal match. Allison Williams also acted as TO at JSC being allocated the prestigious Under 18 gold medal match.
