Southern United Hockey Club

A club is made up of all of us.

The senior presentation night was a celebration of all. Nicolette’s Pratt’s poem about the Women’s Metro B team, “The Bottom team” is a great reminder to us all the importance of the whole club, and what makes Southern such a great club.

The Bottom Team

The bottom team is often the first contact into senior hockey for juniors.
We support them, encourage them, nurture them –
Then send them on their way

The bottom team is often where beginners to hockey start at the club.
We support them, encourage them, nurture them –
Then send them on their way

The bottom team is often where daughters play with their mums.
We support them, encourage them, nurture them –
Then send them on their way

The bottom team is often where reluctant players are timetabled to umpire.
We support them, encourage them, nurture them –
Then send them on their way

But most importantly, the bottom team is often made up of a core group of friends.
They come back every year to laugh, cry, win or lose.
So the next time you see the bottom team playing – remember

Sometimes it’s not just about playing hockey!
