The junior home and away season is now complete. With 14 full field teams and four half field teams, the club has had another great season with some great hockey, and lots of fun had by all.
Success has also come to many teams with: Under 10 Silver, Under 12 South Red, Under 14 A and Under 14 South Black all being named minor premiers.
The finals now commence, and we are very excited to have 6 teams competing in the semi finals. The location and times are yet unknown, but will be updated as soon as possible. The winners of these games move to the grand finals, no second chance in junior finals.
- Michael Pearce’s Under 12 A team, with 4 state representatives returning from the School Sports Victoria Australian Championships, will be playing minor premiers Camberwell on Saturday morning at Footscray at 10.30am
- Ken Walker and Olivia Finlayson’s Under 12 South team. Can this combination of youth and experience continue their success with these young players when they play 4th place Casey on Saturday morning at Monash at 9am.
- Rob Dalton has coached the U14A to the top of the ladder again. The team has seven current junior state representatives in the team. A game against fourth place Camberwell this Friday night at Monash at 6.15pm
- Caitlin and Jo Campbell have coached our super U14GA team in to the finals – the team is aiming for a 3rd shield in a row. With one player returning from the SSV Under 12 Championship, the U14 GA play a game of 2nd vs 3rd when they play Footscray, after a tough game against them last week. The game is at 6.15pm at S-1 on Friday night.
- Campbell Jones has led our Under 14 South team to the top of the ladder, after many of the players won the flag last year. Can they do it again? This week the team, with one state player in their ranks, will play fourth place Casey. The game will take place at Monash at 7.45 following the U14 A game.
- Our girls in U16s have also joined the finals under the guidance of Lex Johnson and Sue Styles. They will play 2nd place Waverley at S-2 at 9.30pm on Friday.
The Under 10 Shield team, which plays full field hockey, was placed second on the ladder. They will be participating in an end of season carnival for the top 4 teams at the SNHC. Congratulation to the brilliant group of under 10s under the guidance of Peter Paice, Mark Lambert and Laura Cox.
