An open letter to SUHC Members

I would like to say a massive thank you to all members of SUHC in particular those that were present at Presentation Night earlier this month. The Life Membership awarded to me on the evening was an incredible honour and the reaction from members and friends in attendance was truly one of the more humbling experiences of my life. While I managed to thank family, the speakers and a few other people on the evening, the emotion of the moment overcame me before I could mention a few other special people. First & foremost is the Purcell family. They not only introduced me to hockey, but also ensured I had the benefit of some wonderful Coaches early in my playing career. Thanks also to Rob Dalton for showing faith in me at an early age by asking me to embark on a coaching career.

Finally, I would like to thank each and every Player, Coach, Team Manager, Committee Members and all associated with my 41 years at the Club. Hockey excites me today exactly as it did as a 7 year old and I hope I get the opportunity to continue working with every player in both the Men’s & Women’s Sections for many years to come.

Once again, Thank You all for this wonderful Honour. I will treasure it always.
