Oh whoops! Just like watching the Olympics, we went in as favourites but came out with silver against a determined Doncaster at the State hockey centre. Unfortunately, the coach (me) is largely to blame for trying a different formation in the first half which caused confusion for the wong team (us) and we went into half time 2/nil down. We weren’t without our chances but it was one of those days where most things didn’t go our way and it looked like we were just a bit flat as a team on the day. Nicole ran her legs off again, but it’s good fitness work for the state team Nic, & despite not being well both Laura & Hilary tried all game but we just couldn’t get things going our way.
 
The second half provided more opportunities and after some good lead up work from Loren & Coxy we manage to scramble a goal from Lou, but the rest of the game just got more frustrating for the team as we seemed to just run time out. Poor Corrinne got upended late in the second half and came down very heavily on her back & was lucky not be be too badly hurt. We had some great long hit outs from Jenny just miss sticks, we didn’t get sticks down in the attacking circle, we couldn’t get clean passes away and so it went for the rest of the game on things that we have been doing really well up until this game. So we go into next week really positive that it was just one of those days & we have some things that we know we can get right for the next game.
