We were playing for the PPPreciouss ring of Latrobe but no one was prepared for the next 70 minutes of hockey and I’m sure everyone involved won’t forget this game.

During the week we talked about bringing some real energy and intensity to the game and wanted to build from that.

We started pretty well with a nice Toma hawk goal from Liv and there was some nice ball movement but Latrobe hit back very quickly to make it 1-1. From then on the game seemed to go downhill with numerous skill errors from both teams and Latrobe went to the break 2-1 up. Oops there was one other thing we had an extra player come onto the ground and I have checked sporting pulse and Latrobe did name Gollum as DS, sorry girls bad joke.

At half time the main message was we needed to improve our basic skills because we just couldn’t string any passes together and we changed a few positions around to hopefully get back into the game.

Things weren’t looking that good in the second half with Paige having to make some critical saves and keep us in the game we made it 2-2 with Tas converting short corner with 10 minutes to go and both teams really put their heads down to get that winning goal.

With 3 minutes to go we worked a short corner and Jess put away a nice shot from the top of the D to make it 3-2 but the game wasn’t over with Latrobe really putting pressure on our defence who kept them out.

We stole a win this week and one of my messages was good teams win when they don’t play well and that’s what we did but everyone knows what we have to do to turn it around which we will against Albury this week.
