Southern United Hockey Club

Weekend Wrapup – June 30th/July 1st

Our top teams played away this week…

MSL

The Brunswick hoodoo continues with another draw, this time 3 all at Brunswick on a wet and windy Saturday afternoon. A disappointing result really given that we got to 3-2 but still couldn’t contain the “Wickers” who could have stolen the game had it not been for some fine work from goalie Hammo. MSL remain 3rd but now 2 points behind Albury Wodonga and with Kew nipping at our heels.

WSL

Travelled to Bendigo and came home with the points after a 5-0 victory. A comfortable win by all accounts. WSL are 4th in a fairly tight ladder that sees 3 points separating 2nd from 6th.

Meanwhile back at the Farm…

The mighty WM2SE beat Swinburne 3-0 to retain top spot. Lex’s girls are going along quite nicely at the moment.

WPB beat Yarra 4-0 which was a super result for this developing team. See Jacky’s extensive match report on this game. WPB are now 5th, 2 points out of the four.

MPA took on TEM and despite dominating play for much of the game and creating many scoring chances (especially in the second half), they lived to regret conceding a soft goal early in the piece and another one late in the game to hand victory to the visitors 1-3. MPA are now 4th.

MPD gave Essendon a 2 goal start only to finally wake up and storm home with a resounding 6-2 victory. MPD are currently 3rd.

M1SE put their season back on the rails again with a 7-1 thumping of TEM to be 8th on the ladder.

In late news WPC drew 1 all with 5th placed Mentone which, given the ructions of the previous week, was a good turn around by this team. Keep it going girls!!

UPDATE:

MPE went to Geelong for a 5pm game on Saturday. They drew 3 all with their 4th placed hosts and remain 2nd on the ladder.
