Weekend Wrapup – May 19th/20th

MSL

After thoroughly dominating Yarra Valley for 65 minutes and leading by six goals, 5 minutes of concentration fade out saw the Yabbies score 2 late goals to share the honours in the second what had been a vibrant and pulsating return to from SUHC’s MSL team. 6-2 was the final result which was a little less satisfying when a white wash was in the offing. Next week’s round 7 looms large as the big test as we take on league leaders Albury Wodonga at Farm Road to push from 3rd into 2nd place on the ladder.

MPA

Went down 2-5 to Doncaster who are always hard to beat at home and slipped one spot to 5th on the ladder.

MPD

Beat Werribee 2-0 and lie 5th on the ladder.

MPE

Ranked 2nd and disposed of Frankston 3-0.

WSL

Spent another get out of gaol free card to overcome a competitive and combative Latrobe University 3-2. The lady Gunners were not to be taken lightly playing on their home ground in front of a partisan crowd and may have considered themselves unlucky to not have at least shared the points. Nevertheless this was an important win that propels WSL back into the 4 and sets up an intriguing encounter with 2nd place Albury Wodonga this coming weekend.

WPB

Travelled to Greensborough and came away with a nil all draw. This is a very satisfying result against 3rd placed Burra at home. While currently 9th on the WPB ladder, this competition is very tight with 1 point separating 4th from 9th. Keeping plugging away girls.

WPC

Continue to struggle and went down 0-3 to MCC. Current 10th on the ladder. Some training during the week won’t go astray ladies.
