Round 1 of the seniors competition is done and dusted. With great results for most teams and with many juniors and junior graduates playing in seniors for the first time, the games were exciting for all players and spectators alike.
Men’s Section
The men’s section had a successful round with Men’s Premier League and Reserves having their first win of the season against Melbourne Uni.
While the Pennant A team under the guidance of Jono Boyd showed Footscray that Southern is determined to make a mark in Pennant A in 2016 with a 3-0 win, with goals shared amongst the team – Liam Eddington, Lachlan Eddington and Tim Dale
Pennant D had a tough day at Camberwell, while pennant E also also played a tough game there to came away with a 1-1 draw with a goal to Liam Hendricks. The Pennant F team also showed Footscray the Southern prowess with a 4-2 win.

Women’s Section
The women’s premier league women played TEM at home, with the firsts fighting back from 1-3 down at half time to a 3 all draw. Great work ladies. While the reserves also came away with a draw. The pennant B ladies after a tough season last year, started the season getting the 3 points in a 3-0 win over Brunswick, while Women’s Metro B invited Bayside to Farm Rd and had a strong result with a 5-1 win.
Rumour has it that the all members of the Eddington/Ward clan scored a goal this weekend, a good start to the season.
