HOOK in 2 HOCKEY

Busy Debut for Ephraums

t has been a big start to the year for Southern United players. The international proleague home-and-away competition started with Australia playing home rounds in Sydney against Belgium and Great Britain. Southern stars Amy Lawton and Nathan Ephraums took to the field after becoming part of the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras squads late in 2019.

AIS Emerging Athlete

Another major honour for Southern United Hockey Club’s Amy Lawton. At the Australian Institute of Sport awards presentation, the 17-year-old was named emerging athlete of the year. “From the time Amy came into the women’as high performance program she has made a fantastic contribution to the Hockeyroos group,’’ Hockey Australia high performance director Toni Cumpston said. “She is a great talent, works really hard at training and shows a maturity on the field beyond her years.’’
