THE summer indoor hockey season for the 10 Southern United teams competing in the Hockey Equipe competition has finished, with the Under 12 and 16 teams taking the premiership. While four players have travelled to Europe with the Victorian team playing in Netherlands and Belguim.

The indoor hockey season run at Skatewold by Hockey Equipe is now over with Southern teams taking out the premiership in under 12 and under 16. Southern had five teams in under 12, two teams in under 14 and three teams in under 16.

The Junior State Championships take place during July school holidays. Players who play for Southern United can nominate to be part of this fun, exciting and challenging tournament. A quick look at our 2018 Premier League premiers will show how many players have come through the Sharks side: Craig Marais, Brad Marais, Nathan Ephraums, Josh Ephraums, Carlin Walker, Trent Symss, Tom Youds, Macca Thompson, Ed Arnold, Alistair Hart, Josh Mulder, and Pim Okhuizen. No wonder South East Metro Sharks have been so successful over the years.

Congratulations to Stewart Fenton (40+), Allen Hart and Richard Thompson (50+) who were part of the Australian teams competing in Hong Kong in the Masters Indoor World Cup. The teams finished with a bronze medal.

This year SUHC has created a structured program called “Jump-In to Umpiring” to encourage and develop umpires. The program is primarily focused at juniors and parents who would like to learn to umpire and those who are currently umpiring and wish to develop their skills further.
