Southern United Hockey Club

COVID Updates

Hockey Victoria has also released guidelines in which Hockey Clubs can resume activities.

On2nd November, Kingston City Council announced sporting clubs could resume activities. These activities can only continue if the club adheres to the state government’s COVID-19 regulations for sports and exercise and will be governed by guidelines prepared by peak agencies and sporting associations.

Southern United Hockey Club has now developed guidelines for return to hockey training (in limited form) and we have approval to start from Hockey Victoria.

The Guidelines show responsibilities of the club, coaches, parents and players, and processes that must be followed. The guidelines should be read by all and are available here

Suzie Styles has taken on the role of COVID-19 response co-ordinator for the club, Suzie can be contacted on masters.section@suhc.com.au or 0438 580 348‬

Masks & Protective Gear.

There can be no sharing of masks and protective gear in games this season due to Covid.  Junior section will continue to provide masks for their junior teams

Juniors

There can be no sharing of masks and protective gear in junior games this season due to Covid.

The junior section  strongly advise juniors in the Under 14, Under 16 and U18 age group, who know they  are likely to participate in the Penalty Corners to purchase their own masks (and make sure there are masks available to use when needed).  Please make sure that equipment is labelled.  Each player will be required to move their own gear at half time and after the game.

The junior section will continue to provide masks for their junior teams in the Under 12 age groups.

Junior players will be informed per age group and special offers are available on purchasing a face mask. Stay tuned.

Seniors

We therefore ask all players to purchase their own masks– Suzie has some you can purchase in stock at the shop at Farm Road or you can get them from Hockey World etc.  Please make sure that equipment is labelled.  Each player will be required to move their own gear at half time and after the game.

Whilst defensive masks are not mandatory for players over 18 in senior games, we encourage players to have them.  For those players born in 2003 or later, if you participate in a penalty corner in a Senior game then you must wear a mask.
