Southern United’s depth put to the test

17 Jul 2019

The last weekend of the school holidays is always a challenge for sporting clubs. With nine players also unavailable owing to state duties for the Under 21 Victorian team, Southern United Hockey Club had extra challenges. The Premier League teams took on Toorak East Malvern (TEM) at Hawthorn Hockey Centre. The men were fortunate to be playing before the reserves, and although seven players were missing from the firsts squad, the result did not show it, with a 7-2 win for United. Matt L’Huillier scored a hat-trick and Ben Hughes twice.
